Luisa Rabbia
In the series from which the photo in the collection originates, Luisa Rabbia tries to connect with the universe, often portraying herself naked, as in this case, on the surface of the moon with the background of the starry vault. The photograph, which is small in size, is retouched by hand with a ballpoint pen.
LUISA RABBIA’s trademark is the realisation of drawings in blue tones. An element that the artist puts into dialogue with sculpture, video, photography and art books, through an aesthetic of experimentation and manipulation of traditional techniques. Among her main works: Travels with Isabella, Travel Scrapbooks 1883/2008, video installations in which blue is transformed into a journey with archive images; Under the Same Sky (2009), on the relationship between human beings, migration, the link between the human body and the environment. In her latest series I Want to Be There, Too (2015), she uses fingerprints, and in In Possessing the Past (2016) she depicts the lines of the multitude of migration flows. *She was born in Pinerolo in 1970, she lives and works in New York.
