✨Artist Focus - Lisetta Carmi Lisetta Carmi bega ✨Artist Focus - Lisetta Carmi Lisetta Carmi began taking photographs in the 1960s, using the camera as a tool of political activism and existential exploration. Her works reveal an intense and intimate connection with her subjects - from the port of Genoa to the transgender community portrayed in “I travestiti” (1966-1972). In this groundbreaking series, Carmi documented lives often unseen, with empathy and disarming honesty. She became a trusted friend to those she photographed, capturing them as they wished to be seen. After decades of travel - from Latin America to Afghanistan and India - Carmi eventually left photography to dedicate herself to spirituality. Up to 340 works by around 40 photographers will be on display - artists whose practices draw on Arte Povera and Neorealism, while engaging in dialogue with the American New Colour movement and with German photography as taught by Otto Steinert at the Folkwang School in Essen and Bernd and Hilla Becher at the Düsseldorf Art Academy.
