Marzia Migliora
A blurred image. As in Marzia Migliora’s other works, we are obliged to participate in reading the work. In Chi c’è c’è (Who’s there), a sort of exercise in the re-appropriation of memory, the artist returns to the courtyard of her childhood, her favourite place because it had no boundaries, and produces 11 videos and photographs, including this one in the collection. With this work, the artist provocatively invites the viewers to become part of an apparently incomprehensible but at the same time attractive space, prompting them to “make their own experience”.
MARZIA MIGLIORA uses photography, video, sound, performance, installation and drawing to create works aimed at involving the public in active emotional participation. Recurring themes in her work are identity, and personal and group precariousness. She creates narrations that present the ambivalent complexity of reality, using memory and history in relation to places and social dynamics as a stage and instrument for reading the present. She makes talk performances; video and stills (ACQUA MICANS, 2012); a photo and video design and installation of the deterioration of the Palazzo del Lavoro in Turin (Forza Lavoro, 2016). She has participated in the Venice Biennale in 2015. *She was born in Alessandria in 1972, she lives and works in Turin.
